Introduced by the Mayor’s Office of Arts, Culture and Entertainment as part of Baltimore's Artscape festival, the Urban Oasis Mural Project reimagines downtown infrastructure through arts-driven placemaking, building on the legacy of the original Baltimore Mural Project managed by BOPA from 2006 to 2008. This initiative leverages the festival's energy to beautify and activate underutilized spaces, fostering sustainable, community-centered impact and sparking long-term investment in the district. For my contribution, one of the pillars beneath the Jones Falls Expressway, I channeled themes of natural renewal and urban harmony, layering fluid organic forms, verdant foliage motifs, and evolving ecosystems that dialogue with the industrial environment. This piece, unveiled during Artscape on May 24–25, 2025, marks a personal milestone in an event that's been integral to my Baltimore roots, transforming concrete into a vibrant portal for reflection and communal connection in the contemporary public art landscape.
